UAS Preparatory Theory Course

As of 1 February 2021, users who operate their unmanned aircraft (UA) with a total weight of more than 1.5 kilograms and not exceeding 7 kilograms, for recreational or educational purposes, are required to obtain a UA Pilot License, administered by CAAS. This course prepares candidates for the theory test component with specific references to drone laws in Singapore as well as, the CAAS theory test syllabus.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of UAS operation
  • Explain the principle of flight and the CAAS regulations and by-laws for unmanned aircraft operations
  • Understand energy management and apply appropriate methodologies for inspection and regular maintenance
  • Understand and explain the concept of navigation, specifically for unmanned aircraft operations
  • Describe how weather conditions can affect unmanned aircraft operations
  • Identify human factors and apply good airmanship for unmanned aircraft operations
  • Assess risk factors and apply mitigation measures for unmanned aircraft operations
